Elements Behavioral Health Acquires Right Step Network of Addiction Treatment Centers in Texas and New Mexico

Elements | August 16, 2012

Elements Behavioral Health, a leading provider of addiction and mental health treatment programs, announced today that it has acquired Right Step network of addiction treatment centers in Texas and New Mexico.

Right Step is a network of outpatient and inpatient addiction treatment centers located throughout the Southwest. Its family of programs also includes Spirit Lodge, a high-end residential treatment center with panoramic vistas of the rolling hills outside Austin, Texas, and San Cristobal, an adventure-based addiction treatment center in Taos, NM, for males between the ages of 18 and 26. Right Step offers a full spectrum of care to fit each individual's needs and is certified by the Joint Commission.

Can You Be Overweight and Healthy?

Carolyn Ross, MD, MPH, is the Eating Disorder Consultant at The Ranch. In a recent Psychology Today blog, she writes how much you weigh may matter less than you think. This month, researchers at UC Davis found that people who are overweight or obese had similar or even lower death rates than people of normal weight. Those who were severely obese did have a higher risk, but only if they also had diabetes or hypertension, and those who were underweight were nearly twice as likely to die as people of normal weight regardless of the presence of diabetes or hypertension.
