Sex Addiction Experts from The Ranch, SRI Present at SASH Conference in Boston

On Sept. 21, 2013, sexual addiction experts from The Ranch and The Sexual Recovery Institute will present at the national conference for The Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health. Boston, MA (PRWEB) September 4, 2013 – From Sept. 18 to 21, counselors, therapists, physicians and other professionals will gather at the Boston Marriott Cambridge Hotel for the 2013 national conference for The Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health (SASH). The theme of this year’s conference is “Creating a Culture of Healthy Sexuality: Diversity of Thought.” On the esteemed panel of speakers are three noted sex addiction experts: Barbara Larew-Adams, LCSW, CSAT-S, and Karen Brownd, MA, from The Ranch treatment center, and Marty Simpson Revell, LMFT, CSAT, an addiction specialist at The Sexual Recovery Institute. Simpson Revell will host a presentation titled, “Working with Selves Within: A Voice Dialogue Demonstration for Clinicians with Sex Addicts” on  Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Participants will learn about identifying the “primary self” and “disowned self” as well as developing an “inner witness of self” and an “aware ego process,” guiding clients to greater integration and the opportunity to make more balanced life choices. “Helping addicts and partners know and understand themselves is a necessary first step to creating intimacy in other relationships,” said Simpson Revell. “This experiential presentation will offer a demonstration in voice dialogue, a technique that helps participants clarify ‘primary’ and ‘disowned’ parts of self with mindful awareness.” Later that day, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., The Ranch’s Clinical Director, Barbara Larew-Adams, and the Director of Center for Relationship and Sexual Recovery at The Ranch, Karen Brownd, will discuss “Assessment and Treatment Considerations for Coexistence of Sex Addiction and Eating Disorders in Females.” To register, visit the conference website.
