Renowned Sex Addiction Expert Speaks in Orlando: Professional Workshop on Sex and Pornography Addiction in the New Media Age

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 08, 2011 – On November 11, 2011, from 7:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., internationally known author, addiction specialist and educator Robert Weiss, LCSW, CSAT-S, will speak to treatment professionals, individuals and families about identifying and treating sex and pornography addictions in the age of smartphones and social media.. Titled “Assessment, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Sex and Pornography Addictions in the New Media Frontier,” the presentation will:

  • Address common problems encountered by individuals struggling with sex addiction
  • Explore the effects of online media on the problem of sexual addiction
  • Discuss the relationship between sexual addiction and early trauma survival
  • Review current research in the field of sex addiction
  • Provide an overview of questions frequently asked by sex addicts and their partners/spouses
  • Offer gender-based strategies for healing relationships and putting an end to destructive behaviors
  • Answer questions that may arise in clinical practice surrounding sex addiction and spousal betrayal
  • Provide helpful resources for additional education

Attendees will join Mr. Weiss for breakfast and lunch at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Orlando, where they will spend the day learning about sex and pornography addictions and the full range of treatment options. “Sexual addiction is often misunderstood and misdiagnosed,” said Mr. Weiss. “Getting educated about sex and pornography addictions and their treatment will help clinicians be more effective in their practices and can be the first step toward healing for those struggling with these disorders.” Robert Weiss is the founder of The Sexual Recovery Institute, the Director of Sexual Disorders Services for Promises Behavioral Health, and the creator of The Center for Relationship and Sexual Recovery at The Ranch in Tennessee.
