The ‘I Promise’ Periodical

National Addiction
Professional Day

National Addiction Professionals Day was created to celebrate the men and women who have dedicated their lives to helping people across the country heal from addiction and mental health disorders. Without these brave individuals, thousands would suffer in silence with their addiction and mental health issues. Promises is PROUD of their addiction professionals and we want to continually say THANK YOU!

September Recap

With autumn fast approaching. Promises Behavioral Health wants to slow down and take a moment to appreciate the successes from the National Recovery Month campaign “Together We Are Stronger”. For 30 years. National Recovery Month’s mission is to celebrate those who have fought their way through addiction and we are so proud to be a part of that fight. With a sense of purpose, home, hope and community we felt a huge wave of fellowship from our facilities.

Rock to Recovery – Austin, TX

Rock to Recovery was a night was filled with fun. fellowship and Rock-n-Roll. The Promises team handed out “Together We Are Stronger” t-shirts. encouraged attendees to write encouraging “I Promise” messages and rocked out with prop instruments on the red carpet. Kathy Valentine from the Go-Gos played hit tunes like “Vacation”. Bob Schneider and Sacred Son jammed out cover songs like “Sabotage” by The Beastie Boys and “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes. The night was electric as we came together to celebrate the power of recovery.

Fundraiser events like this make it possible for Rock to Recovery’s innovational music therapy program to grow. As a sponsor. Promises had the opportunity to make our presence in the Austin sobriety community known and support the fact that fun is still possible in recovery!

We want give a huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to Rock to Recovery in Austin, TX. We had such a blast rocking out to Wes Greer. Bob Schneider. Kathy Valentine. and Sacred Sons.

World Mental Health Day

A day for “40 seconds of action”

Please join us on Thursday October 10th in observing World Mental Health Day. This year, we are coming together to focus on suicide prevention. Every 40 seconds someone perishes from suicide, but we can prevent those in suffering from becoming victims to their own mental health disorders. Together we can take the steps to save someone in need. On October 10th, take 40 seconds out of your day to impact someone positively. One small action can go a long way in preventing someone from taking their own life.

Imagine this – a treatment center filled with patients as 35 mph winds rage outside and ocean waves crash up the surrounding beaches, inching ever closer to the facility. This is the scene that Lucido could have faced if they hadn’t taken quick and thoughtful precautions to get their clients to safety during Hurricane Dorian.

Clinical Director, Heather Baker-Carr led evacuation efforts and swiftly transferred clients to hotel accommodations in Fort Myers, FL. Group therapy sessions were held in hotel rooms to ensure that treatment never stopped. Once Dorian had passed, clients were safely transferred back to the facility to resume their care.

Sergio Muriel, Executive Director of Lucido, had this to say, “I am proud of how the team worked together to ensure that the clients and staff were safe during Hurricane Dorian. Lucida’s Clinical Director, Heather Baker-Carr led the evacuation team and made sure the clients and staff made it back safely, while the rest of the team secured the facility and communicated with families of clients’ status. The corporate support was felt by clients and staff and all are appreciative.”

We are honored to have Lucido as a part of the Promises family because no matter the obstacle, we know Lucido and staff can get through the storm! Facility Updates

Congratulations to The Right Step Houston on your relocation! We understand it has been a long journey and we are so excited for the next chapter for this facility.
